A very happy mail day!

I love when good things come in the mail! I love it even more when there are not only good things but no bills either! That was what I found today. In my mailbox was a large yellow envelope, a check, a gift card and a magazine! Woo-hoo!
We'll work our way backwards:
The Magazine - No Greater Joy by Mike & Debi Pearl, I love to glean from their wisdom.
The Gift Card - $10 from one of my favorite stores because my birthday is just weeks away.
The Check - A $10 rebate from Kelloggs from the promotion they did at the beginning of school. By the way, I also got $15 in gift cards from Target during that same promotion for buying Kelloggs products!
The Yellow Envelope - A free book!! A Tip A Day with Ellie Kay It came from Moody Publishers. My super dh had heard about the promotion on Moody Radio and let me pick the book of my choice. The book is about how to save money. Not only on groceries, but clothes and utilities and more! I am excited to learn more money saving tips!

What came in your mailbox today?

Pumpkin Painting

We spent Wednesday evening getting our pumpkins that we picked at the pumpkin patch all dressed and ready for their big display. I cut out cat heads and stars from contact paper and stuck them on the girls' pumpkins. They painted the entire pumpkin black with acrylic paint and then when they were dry I peeled off the stickers. I think they turned out rather cute.
While their pumpkins were drying the girls helped DH clean the guts out of the big pumpkin and then he carved a happy little pumpkin.

Let Them Eat Cake

Free cake. Not just free cake, but cake that I was paid $1.92 to take home! Seriously! Publix had "Meet The Managers" tonight and I was excited about going and meeting them because I am big on customer service. You took this piece of paper around & had each manager sign it and then you got to reach in a box and pull out a coupon. My coupon was for a free 8 inch cake. That cake up there was not what I was expecting but it is what I got. I handed the cashier my FREE coupon and she had a manager ring it up for her. There was this odd balance of 1.92 but then I realized it said -$1.92 and joked "oh, that means you owe me $1.92!" the manager said,"yes it does." and handed me $1.92. I was shocked and told her I was just joking but she said nope, that it would throw off the till so she handed me my money and my cake!
Today is a month exactly before my birthday. DH and I are celebrating tonight and watching "Faceing the Giants" while eating our free cake!

Another Celebration

Sandy Toes is celebrating her 100th post today with an awesome give away. You can see the details at her blog, Shell In Your Pocket.

What do you call your husband?

Today is Marsha's husband's birthday. She talks about what they call each other here.
Her post reminded me of an incredibly funny story.
We were in the process of buying our first home. There were many calls to be made to this person and that person and then there was the relaying of each call between my husband and I. On this particular day I needed to call our inspector.

Hello?

Hi! Is this Greg?

No, this is Adam .. YOUR HUSBAND! Who is Greg??

I laughed until I cried. Through tears and bursts of laughter I tried to explain to my husband that I was trying to call our inspector, Greg. He got a good chuckle out of it. I think Greg thought I was a bit nuts though when I could barely contain myself when I finally dialed the right number?

So what do you call your husband? Something endearing I hope, but more importantly I hope you call him by HIS name!

Pumpkin Pickin

We went to the neatest Pumpkin Patch this last weekend! It was hot though. Too hot. Too hot to pick pumpkins in October. We had tons of fun though! If you live anywhere near Franklin, TN I would suggest a trip to Gentry's Farm. They are very homeschool friendly too and it looks like they have a great summer day camp program.
There is a pumpkin patch where you can pick your own, a corn maze (shaped like a cow!), a hay maze with cool little slides and tunnels throughout, a few animals, lots of history, corn/grain troughs for the kiddos (and big kids), a big barn with lots of centers like a farmers' market and linclon logs, a hay ride, nature trail .... tons to do and really a great price.
Pumpkin carving and painting begins tonight!

Yay! I have a face! I finally got a profile pic up and just in case you weren't sure, I'm the face on the left. The face on the right belongs to my super hot, most fantastic husband. I love that face!
We went to see Fireproof this weekend. It was such a great movie! Though it didn't really seem like a movie because there was so much truth to it. It was all true. Can't wait to see it again. To be reminded of God's love and to know that we are able to love and be loved the way that He loves us! You should see it! Scroll to the bottom of the blog for more info!
